When Woodplay was founded the most common swing set material was metal. In 1975 two young men developed the idea to create fun playsets made out of a more natural, kid-friendly material. After a little experimentation redwood was determined to be the best wood to use for their playsets just as it is today. Until that time, large wood climbing structures were unheard of and the public quickly understood the benefits of these new playset designs and material. Many of Woodplays design innovations have become industry standards over the years.
